The Oric Adventure Game List In the following table, you'll find all the text and role-playing adventures that I am aware of for the Oric. The table is composed of five columns as follows: Title The name of the program. Software House The company which released the program. Languages Details which languages the programs were released in where known. This is quite important as unlike many arcade games, a knowledge of the language the game is written in is essential. Type A two letter code shows what type of adventure game the program is. There are four categories used: AA - Arcade Adventure. Still more adventure like than arcade like but using an arcade style interface for moving the character. A good example of this is L'Aigle d'Or. TG - Traditional text adventure (see TX) but with some graphics thrown in, usually to help illustrate a location. TX - Traditional text only adventure using commands such as GO NORTH, EAT BREAD and so on. RP - Role-play. Otherwise known as Dungeons & Dragons or Swords & Sorcery type games. A character or group is created with characters having a group of numbers to represent abilities in different areas. Fighting and character development are usually of more importance than puzzles in this type of adventure game. Good examples of this type of program are Tyrann and The Ring of Darkness. Notes The notes contain other information about the game such as a brief description. It is not certain with several games whether they were actually released or not and this staus is indicated here. If you own or have played one of these games (usually marked 'Released?') then please let me know so that its existence can be confirmed! Magazine adverts do not count, as this is not proof that a game was released (remember Imagine with Psyclapse and Bandersnatch?). When the Oric market collapsed (in 1984 in the UK and from about 1985 in France) many complete or almost complete Oric programs were shelved. Thanks to the efforts of groups on both sides of the Channel, several of these games have been made available. Particular mention here should go to OUM (Insect Insanity, originally to be released by Tansoft) and CEO (Willy, Ankhesenemon) for helping some great programs reach the audience they deserved.
